Wonderful piece Orla! l joined Writers Ink in April 2021 too and l totally agree with you it is a brilliant group to be apart of and Vanessa and Maria are so encouraging and there is a lovely energy in the group. I haven’t been as courageous as you have in submitting my writing to competitions. The closest l’ve got is posting a few times on the Wednesday Prompt and Thursday Threads. But having read your piece this morning l am going to try really hard this year to make more time for my writing and to submit to some competitions. I have really enjoyed reading your Blog since you started it and l am delighted that you have had success in being published and that you received your first payment for your writing which must feel so Amazing. I am looking forward to reading more of your writing in 2022 and l just want to thank you for being so open and honest in your writing. It has really helped me so much. 👏👏👏

Ah thanks so much Orla for your lovely words and l will take your advice and go for it this year! Unfortunately l can’t make the retreat my twins Alex and Joshua are making their Confirmation that weekend. Murphys law that it feel on the same weekend l was so looking forward to going on it and had booked my place as soon as Vanessa put up the details. I was so disappointed when l got the date for the Confirmation and it was that weekend! I will be there with you all in spirit and will definitely be going on the next retreat!
