Val and I have recently joined forces with author and broadcaster Barbara Scully. Together we are touring Book Festivals around Ireland with our panel discussion called The Madonna Effect. On June 2nd, we appeared at the Listowel Book Festival and discussed the joys of getting old and reinvention after the age of 50. We were delighted with the reception and drew a large crowd of like-minded women ranging in age from 35 to 75! Catch us again on June 16th, at the Dalkey Book Fesitval where we will have the same light-hearted discussion. A few more dates are coming up, so watch this space.

Comedy Shows

Val and I have hosted three Funny Women shows at Whelans over the last twelve months. We have welcomed some of Irelands best female comedians including Louise O’Toole, Jessica Collins, Claire Roche, Emily Ashmore, Leigh Douglas, Kate Feeney, Barbara Scully, Deirdre O’ Kane, Sinead Culbert, Justine Stafford, Sophia Cadogan, Aoife Dooley, Sue Collins, Sinead Quinlan, and Emma Doran. Our special guests included a fantastic debut act from Amanda Brunker, a guest appearance from beauty blogger Maria McKenzie, a surprise visit from Laura Dowling (aka the Fabulous Pharmacist) and his sister Rachel. Funny Women founder Lynne Parker joined us at our second show, where we celebrated her 20 year anniversary since founding Funny Women UK. Singer/songwriter Kirana Diamantino performed at our first two shows, while musicians Jessica Smith and Stephen McGloughin (YES! A MAN!) entertained us at our third gig.  Watch this space as we are planning a ChatterBoxx Christmas Special!
